The ordinary expenditure of the Consulate, including
that now under consideration, has throughout "been
financed from funds provided by the Comptroller, of
India Treasuries. I am therefore to-day drawing a bill
on you for £ 198 8-0-4, the equivalent of Krs. 66,916.65
at to-day’s rate of exchange (Krs.33.66 for £1) , and
will credit it to the Comptroller, India Treasuries.
The sane course will be followed when your sanction to
the excess expenditure of Krs.22,744.45 is received.
I understand that the telegraph and postal
charges are debitable to the Foreign Office and not as
formerly to India. All the vouchers for these charges
up to the 31st December 1918 I have returned to India,
asking them to arrange adjustments direct with you. The
amount involved is large, far more t Inn I could employ
here, so it would merely be useless expense for me to
draw on you and remit to India. For the two quarters
ending March 31st 1919 and the 30th June 1919, the
vouchers are sent herewith. The amounts concerned t are
Krs.70,97.2.85 for telegrams and Krs.86.40 for postages;
I have accordingly drawn on you a bill for £2,111-1-9
the equivalent of Krs. 71,059.25 , and will credit the
Comptroller, India Treasuries.
I trust that these accounts will be iound satis-
factory An East India Company trading post. ,' and that you will infom the Government of India
in the Foreign and Political Department, to whom I am
sending a copy of this letter, of your approval. I an
sending a copy also to H.M. Minister at Teheran.
