Letter No. 3. 22546,
Referred to The Political Secretary. 10th December 1920.
Please see the attached letter from the
Director of Stamping, dated the 4th December 1920,
and the cony of a letter from the Royal Mint dated
the 2nd December 1920. It will be observed.that_it
is not oossible to complete the plates required ior
orinting the Mesopotamian stamps in time to allow
a suoply of stamps to reach Mesopotamia soon after
the 1st April. It is suggested, accordingly, by
the Director of Stamping that the proposed issue ol
these stamps should be postponed to tne 1st July,
and that, m the meantime, a further supply of the
stamps now in use should, if necessary, oe provided.
I shall be glad to learn whether you concur
in this proposal. If so, I assume that you will take
steps for tne purchase of any stamps that may be
necessary up to the 1st July 1921.
Attached are the prints of the two sizes of
stamos. Spaces are left for the insertion of the
Arabic inscriptions. The spaces containing the
figures and values are also left blank in tne die,
so^that changes may be made as necessary.
