My dear C&rzon,.
Jt is pleasant to see your hand writing.I hope you are flourishing
and find the climate of India suits yod. We are having fogs, snoW,frosts
and all kinds of horrors at home just now. .1 am quite ready to answer
your questions and Will be as brief as possible.
The terms upon Which books are sold at ouf Bombay house are the
resuTir of Very careful deliberation, and We finer it necessary,if books
are to be sold at ali,to allow most of the Booksellers in India a
discount of 40$,but some times We do not give so large a discount,,
hence the discrepancy you refer to..If you Will look carefully at your
account-,1 think yoO will see that books are hot sold 05 as 24, neither
are there any further discounts charged. The carriage has,of course,'
to be paid, and I think it is only fair to charge this in the account,
As regards oUr 10#, this is charged on all sales and covers a variety
of house expenses as specified in the agreement. I calculate that the
net result of a copy of your ^Persia" sold in India on the most faVodr
-able terms, is 21/5,
Believe me^
Yours very truly.
His Excellency
Lord curzon of Kedleston
