TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS,
“LONCMANS, LONDON’’
April 7th 1893
My dear Cur 2 on
The problem is easily solved. My letter of March 14,as
you say, stated that about 4-25 copies had been disposed of, which includ-
-es copies sold here, number of copies sent to America, and any odd
copies £iven away; whereas my letter of March 30th was based on a
rough calculation of the amount standing to the credit of the account,
so far as we could say.
I purposely pointed out in my last letter that 179 copies
had been sent (since the last account) to the States and that I could
say nothing about them. Your having included these copies in your
estimate explains yhe difference.
The long and short of it is that it is impossible to criticise
the position on what must necessarily be rough information. Our annual
account is the only document that gives really reliable statements.
I think we can hardly say yet we have printed too many, and I have my
doubts as to there being a market for a cheap edition.
Hoping you are flourishing
I remain
Yours very truly
The Hon.G.N.Curzon.M.?.
