Sir,
I am directed to reftr to your letter No,57/16/
29 (M,0,2) of the 12th of April last, addressed to the
Foreign Office, regarding the supply of single-loading
rifles and ammunition to the tribes of the Aden Protector
ate and to transmit to you herewith a copy of a despatch
Acting Resident
from the/Aden, requesting to be furnished with a further
supply of arms and amnunition,
2. It is believed that the military authorities
hold in Mesopotamia a stock of suitable rifles and aumuni-
tion collected from the tribes after the recent rising,
and I am to enquire whether this is the case, and if so,
whether the Army Council would be prepared under tne cir
cumstances to arrange that the Resident Aden, snould be
supplied direct from Mesopotamia with the required number
of rifles and rounds of ammunition,
