persons only. This point might also be discussed
at the proposed further conference.
4. Lord Plumer presses for early delimitation
on the ground of the frontiers between Trans-Jordan
and Nejd and Trans-Jordan and the Hedjaz. At the
Conference held on the 20th of May last, it was
agreed that it was not desirable to proceed for the
present with the proposal to negotiate an additional
Protocol to provide for the delimitation on the
spot of the frontiers between Ibn Baud’s Dominions
and theBritish Mandated Territories in the Middle
East. The reasons for this decision were that for
some time to come, the frontiers were likely to
be somewhat fluid and that the labour and consider
able expense of demarcating the lengthy frontier
between the British Mandated Territories and Ibn
Baud’s Dominions might well be wasted. Moreover,
it was felt that in view of the inaccuracy of
existing maps, delimitation would give rise to
difficulties and possibly to serious disputes.
