■—^ My Lord Duke,
I have the honour to report that at my recent
meeting with Ibn Gaud, I went through with His Highness
the existing treaty between His Majesty's Government
and himseli and asiced him if it satisfied his require
ment or if he thought it needed any retouch in the light
oi recent developments. His reply was that on the whole
he felt tnat his interests were adequately satisfied
by the existing document and that unless His Majesty’s
Government thought any revision was necessary he on
his part did not wish for any, provided that he could be
given assurance that His Majesty’s Government would for
the future regard the States of the Hejaz, Trans-Jordania
and Iraq as being covered by the term "foreign power*
in \rticle 2 of the Treaty. I request that I may be
favoured with the assurances or views of His Majesty’s
Government on this point,
