He confidently hopes that at his coming meeting with
you he will he able to dispel the ill-feeling and
adjust the differences now existing between his Father
and yourself. In the same connection, he asks you in
the most friendly spirit to realise that there have
been occasions when the tone of co;nmuaications passing
from yourself to Sheixs on the western side of the
Arabian peninsula has been no less Irritating than
these have been to you. In conclusion I beg your
Highness to appreciate the great desire of His Majesty^
Government to see happy relations between the
Rulers of Najd and Hraq and the establishment of peace
andfriendship between the Arab peoples generally. I
reljfc on Your Highness as I do on King Faisul to
cooperate with me patiently in the duty of promoting those
objects.

realise that rny message sent from here on 4th February regard
ing Hamud bin Suwait may not have reached yasH? you,until after
you had given him a friendly reception. It is now reported
to me that he was not only welcomed by Your Highness but re
ceived handsome presents and has returned to his tents
accompanied by Abur Rahman bin Maamir on your behalf and
that the latter with Hamud’s assistance is attempting to
levy tribute on several Muntafik tribes graxing in the
desert. Furthermore reports are continually reaching me
concerning the activi ties of Faisul al Dawish and tne
Akhwao who are with him, and it is now stated that he is
seeking an opportunity to attack the Anaizeh. 7ou may oe
