Plea.se send following to Ibn Sand by urgent raossenger begins
A little more than a year ago I had occasion to protest to your
Highness with regard to Hostile activities of your adherent Faisal
Dawish and the force of Akhwan accompanying him who were then
threatening Zobeir. They then only retired under threat of
bombardment. Same thing has happened this season. For some
weeks past the southern frontier of Iraq has been continually
disturbed by constant threats of Akhwan raids against Iraq tribes
On March 7th/belegraphed Your Highness via Bahrein urging you to
control him and to put a stop to his mischievous activities your
approval of which cannot be believed in view of negotiations which
were current between us. I have now to inform you that on March
11th a la£ge force of Akhwan numbering between 2,000 and 3,000
under the leaxl of Faisal Dawish ? Dhaydan A1 Hithlain, Salman
Mandil, Khalaf A1 laid and others attacked the Iraq tribesmen
grazing round the wells at Abu Ghar and after killing large
numbers and capturing quantity of camels and livestock advanced
on ?Sharqah and attacked the Iraq Camel Police who w r ere camped
there at the time. All this was entirely without provocation.
On hearing the above news aeroplanes were sent to reconnoitre
and to keep me informed as to movements of Akhwan. They naa
specific orders not to attack without reference to me unless they
were gratuitously attacked by tne Akhwan. On March 14th they
located the Akhwan near the Lake of Abulia ana were received
by them with heavy rifle fire. They accordingly had no N
alternative but to ?retaliate and punish the Akhw r an which they
did. Now although it is reported to me that your Highness had
been ? sending supply to Haffar for I tin DuwaiiMiS force I ^ annot
