On 28th January I took over from the Quetta Arsenal the

2. During the journey to Duzdap I saw Major Fowls at Nushki

discussed the question of affording rail^fay facilities to the
Persians for moving some of their troops from Duzdap to
Mirjawa, and arrangements for the supply of water on that route
for Persian troops which will march from Duzdap to Mirjawa. Mr.
Martin informed me that Bslar Amjad had sent out a party of
100 soldiers to repair the Duzdap-Mirjawa road, and that at his
request Mr. Martin had arranged to supply this party with water
at various points along the road.

called on the Persian Governor and Balar Amjad that evening.
Salar Amjad informed me that he expected thq lorries and cars
he had purchased at Karachi to arrive on End February, after
which he would be ready to move to ivMrjawa. Re said that he
had received orders from Tehran to garrison Khwash, Duzdap and

He stated that when these detachments were in position he
would raise no objection to our troops being withdrawn*
He also informed me that he has received orders to pay
Sarhad allowances on the same scale as we have done, and to
recruit a Levy Corps of EGG-250 men. A Military Governor has
