2413, Our telegram of the 17th January,1708,
Later coronunlcation fran Baluchistan shows that Keyes had not
seen Kerman telegram of 8th January and your reply addressed
to Kerman as No 0 l of 11th January, and was obviously
apprehensive that lack of liaison between Kerman and Seistan
plan of operations might result in Dost Muhamad whose
power is based entirely on bluff 0 being able to play off one
party against the other., and retain unduly prominent position
for nimselfs Our information regarding every petty chief,,
both in North and South, if properly used would,, Keyes
thinks 8 result in detaching all support from Dost Muhanznadg
and probably enable the Central Government to gain control
over Persian Baluchistan speedily and blood!essly, but this
could only be achieved by co-ordinated pollcy 0
As regards Kuhak a though its downfall would put
an end to raids into Mekran from that quarter and would
probably be achieved by us without difficulty, as at present
advised we forbear pressing on Persians isolated action
inspired by us, and not part of their general plan.
Keyes reports that Amjad has asked sanction to
pay Daman!a, Ismailzais and Rekis three thousand tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. per
month,, which is roughly equivalent of allowances granted
