al ^haimah, aged about 25 years. Recorded at bharjab on the 28th
October 1938.
I was bom at bhamal in the house of my master Mihamad -^bol
Haon of bhamal who used to send me to diving. About 10 years
ago fi$y master Muhamad sold me to Zainab bint Mihamad v;ho used
also to send me to diving. As a few days ago I heard that she xodK
intends to sell me 1 ran away from Ajman to bhopjaji i n order to
take refuge at the Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and beg to be released from slavery.

Statement made by has in ah bint Hasan, born at hodeideh of
Yeman, aged about 50 years. Recorded at Sharjah on 29th October
1938.
I was bom at ^odeideh of *emen. when I was a child I was
kidnapped from my tom about 50 years ago. I do not know the man
who kidnapped and brought me to Ajman where I was sold to a
certain Ali^bilL-^^i 111311 ^jman who got me married to a man
named Marzooq, slave of Uasir bin All of Ajman. Owing to the
cruelty and illtreatment of my master I ran away from Ajman to
bharjah in order to take refuge at the Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and beg to be
freed from slavery.

Statement made by Salmuh bint Marzooq, born at Suwahil, aged
about 40 years. Recorded at bharjah on 29th October 1938.
I was bom at buwahil and kidnapped from my native place when
I was young. 1 do not know the name of the kidnapper who brought
me to Hebai where I was sold to a certain Khairi, slave of Afrah
bint ^ayel of Hebai. J-'hree years ago my master died and 1 stayed
with his son > Salf - As a f ew days ago I heard that he intends to
sell me 1 ran away from "ebai to ^harjah in order to take refuge
at the Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and beg to be freed from slavery.
