Article 4 - Arbitration* Our Article 32 gets over the
diPficulty by suggesting that differences of opinion should be
referred to the International Court ox Justice unless the High
Contracting Parties should decide otherwise.
2) Perso-German Treaty of Establishment.
Article 1 contains a special clause excluding
immigration from scope of treaty as long as no discrimination
is made by one High Contracting Party against the other.
Our Article 6 mahes no reference to this subject.
Article 2 - special arrangement for ’interdiction de
sdjour’ and expulsion not found in cur Article 6.
Article 3 - liberty of commerce - two reservations not
found in our Article 5 regarding state monopolies (or
monopolies granted by the State) ana professions that can
only bo exercised by nationals.
Article 5 - national treatment with regard to taxation.
Our Article 8 stipulates national and M .F.N» treatment.
Article 6 forssea the eventual acquisition of immovable
property other than house and place of business. Our Article
10 is saciafied with the acquisition of property in
accordance with local laws.
Article 7 regarding domiciliary searches is a little
more explicit than oar iJftiole 7 otherwise the meaning ia the
same*
Article 8 is presumably in lieu of our Article 14 in
which the maintenance of the Safeguards is asi.ed for.

This volume contains correspondence between the British Legation in Tehran and the Foreign Office regarding negotiations around the agreement of a commercial treaty between Britain and the Persian [Iranian] Government.

Arrangement

The subject 200 (Anglo-Persian Treaty Negotiations) consists of eight volumes, IOR/L/PS/10/1250-1257. The volumes are divided into ten parts, with parts 1 and 2 comprising one volume, parts 3, 4 and 5 comprising one volume each, parts 6 and 7 comprising the fifth volume, and parts 8, 9 and 10 comprising one volume each.

The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the rear to the front of the volume.
