Treaty, “ any other charge by Government whatever,’' to declare to Syud Maho
med Ibin Syud Shurruf, appointed by His Highness the Sultan of Muscat, to
exchange His Highness’s ratification, that the aforesaid words are by Her Majesty
taken and understood to mean “ any other charge whatever made by the Gov
ernment or by any local authority of the government.”

to exchange Of the ratifications.
The undersigned Syud Mahomed Ibin Syud Shurruf, appointed by His High
ness the Sultan of Muscat to exchange His Highness’s ratification of the Treaty
of Commerce concluded at Zanzibar, on the 31st May 1839, by Robert Cogan,
Esq., a Captain of the Naval Service of the East India Company on the part of
Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ir e^ n ">
and by Hassan Bin Ebrehim, and Mahabat Ali bin Nasir on the part of His High
ness the Sultan of Muscat, against the ratification of the same Treaty by
Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,
received from Samuel Hennell, Esq., a Captain in the Military Service of t e as
India Company, and Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , appointed to act in this rnattei
on behalf of Her said Majesty, a declaration stating that in order to avoid any
possible misunderstanding as to the meaning of the words any other c arge
by government whatever,” contained in the ninth Article of the said rea y,
the aforesaid words are by Her Majesty taken and understood to mean
other charge whatever made by the Government, or by any local authority o e
government,” the undersigned Syud Mahomed Ibin Syud Shurruf, being^ uy
authorized by His Highness the Sultan of Muscat, hereby accepts and adopts the
said declaration in the name and on the behalf of His Highness the u tan
Muscat.

fications of a Treaty of Commerce between Her Majesty the Queen o t e
Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and His Highness the Sultan of us ,
concluded and signed at Zanzibar on the 31st day of May 1839, an t e
tive. ratifications of the said instrument having been carefully peruse ,
exchange took place this day in the usual form.

The part contains two copies of proofs for the following revised narratives: Treaties and Engagements Relating to the Arab Principalities in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (ff 305-328 and ff 617-640) and Treaties and Engagements Relating to Oman (Muscat) (ff 406-422 and ff 641-657). Also included are copies of related treaties, agreements, and correspondence for the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (ff 329-405 and ff 540-616) and Oman sections (ff 423-477 and ff 485-539), which cover the periods 1806-1927 and 1798-1928 respectively.

The proofs are accompanied by interdepartmental correspondence discussing the contents of the narratives, and the possibility of amendments and additions being made, such as for the parts entitled 'The Wahabis and Nejd' and 'Kuwait' in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. section. In addition, the correspondence discusses the question of whether to include recently concluded agreements with Mohammerah [Khorramshahr] and Kuwait in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. section. Also included is a list of anomalies and misprints that have been identified in the proofs.
