Administration of south Persia, at the disposal of the
Chief Quarantine Medical Officer at Bushire, I can confidently
anticipate^ that it will not be exceeded by anything but
unforeseen expenditure for particular reasons which^ill be
reported immediately they occur.
III. QUABAhTIME BUDGET
no Budget allotment for the year 1303 has yet been
received here, though a sum equivalent to l/l£°[the
allotment for 1303 has been paid and is / sufficient to
defray miscellaneous expenses for the first month of Hamal.
Payments are now due for o ac re and Djoza. It is hoped that
the Budget will be fixed without much further delay as the
present state of affairs is becoming more and more difficult.

I enclose for your information copy of a letter No*
146-ni, dated the 19th June 1924, from the Government of
ludxo to my adaress, intimating that in future quarterly
instead of half yearly bills on account of Quarantine
medical Officers* salaries will he submitted to the
Persian Government for payment. This, I think, will he an
improvement on the former arrangement hut I venture to
nope that some arrangement such as suggested in my telegram
ko.llB will shortly he arrived at whereby Quarantine
medical Officers will be paid in Krans for periods
(either quarterly or monthly) ksh coinciding with the Persian
calendar, pending a decision on the larger question of
t^e transfer of the Medical Officers to service under the
-orsian government, which is now under the consideration
of the Government of India.
In conclusion I venture to remind you that the
Persian Government are not being asked to pay anything
like the total cost of the Quarantine -administration of
their
