Persian quarantine expenditure. I have not received from
Customs Department amount due for Doctors salaries from July
1st 1923.
.explanation now given is that Bush ire Director of Customs
paid us in ITovemher salaries for half year ending June 30th of
Doctors at hohammsrah and Bunder Abbas whereas he should only
have paid for Lingah. His allotment is expended.
I am ascertaining whether Directors at Bohamnerah and
sunder Abbas have sufficient funds to enable re-adjustment. I
am of opinion troubles over accounts will continue under present
system, and it is at least essential that bills should be made
up and rendered to Persian Government for quarter of Persian
financial year which ends March 20th.
I am inclined to recommend that a number of quarantine
officers including Chief and one Assistant Surgeon at Bushire
be transferred to foreign service under Persia. If Chief were
given allowances for char me of Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. and supervision of
