Medical Officer for the British
Consulate, Bandar Abbas.
With reference to your letter No.F.237/38/25 dated
11th June 1930 asking that the Government of India may be
furnished with information regarding the medical appointment
at Bandar Abbas, I have the honour to state that, as the
f
Government of India are aware, all Government medical
officers are allowed to undertake private practice and to
retain the fees payable on this account.
2 . Payments for medical treatment made by Indian and
British persons resident at Bandar Abbas who are not
employed in the Consulate, would, therefore, in accordance wi
Y/ith the universal practice be retained by the medical
officer concerned, and not credited to Government.
3. The Treasury, enquire Y/hether Government medical
officers are employed at the other Persian Ports maintained
by the Government of India.

Residency
An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India.
Surgeon is maintained at Bushire, while
His Majesty’s Vice-Consul at Mohammerah is himself a
practising medical officer. A medical officer is also
maintained at Seistan, and up till recently-a medical
officer was maintained at Meshed, but owing to the xact
that there is an excellent American medical mission there,
it has now been arranged that they should give medical
attendance to the Consulate General and staff for a payment
of a fixed monthly sum. At Kerman, the Consulate also
received medical attendance from the local mission.
