inspired by the Sultan, signified their approval of an
Islamic conference in %ypt to consider the Khalifats question
and bitterly protesting against King Hussain’s assumption of
the title of Kh&lifeh,
The Agent ashed me what X thought of the telegrams*
Z remarked that in view of the already strained relatione
between Hejd and the Hedjas X thought it would have been
happier if the personal reference to King Hussain could have
been emitted* The Agent agreed, but said as he had no
authority to show the telegrams to anybody, and had done so *r*tt
out of frisndllness for myself ({osaibi is now anxious to bufcy

The volume comprises telegrams, despatches, correspondence, memoranda, and notes relating to the general situation in Arabia and in particular relations between Sultan of Nejd Bin Sa'ud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] and King Hussain [Ḥusayn bin ‘Alī al-Hāshimī] of Hejaz. Correspondence discusses a Foreign Office proposal for a conference of Arabian chiefs in London, Aden or Malta, as well as hospitality offered in Mecca for pilgrims from Nejd.

Principal correspondents include the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Kuwait.
