to recover their property. “ Ali Khan’s people” robbed a woman and child close
to Sonemeeanee, but Jean Khan, the Naib, took no notice of the matter. Fooloo,
Shahook’s son, went to Ali Khan’s slave Soongha and recommended him to
try and talk over the Shahooks. “If yon, Shahgazee, do not make speerjy
arrangements, the road to Kurrachee will be closed. The people are already
disheartened at your not having taken measures to recover the Shahook
camels.”
Shahgazee Goolam Jan, in forwarding the above, writes to “ His Highness
the Khan:” MowlahDad sent Doorab Borah to Ali Khan, Jamote, to warn him
to desist from plundering and other malpractices, and returned with an answer
that he “ Ali Khan intended to do all the injury be could to your country.”
Jean Khan is also bent on evil, though Naib of Sonemeeanee ; he has insti
gated the.people to rob and close the road. So long as Ali Khan lives he will
create disturbances. I am afraid considerable loss may he anticipated, 1st, owing
to the road having been closed; 2nd, the Jamotes not having paid any revenue
on rape seed ; 3rd, the expense incurred in putting down these disturbances,
I have done all in my pow T er to act up to Major Harrison’s advice, but these
people dont understand kindness, please give directions to punish them, and
direct Suffer Khan, Bezonjao, Meer Mahomed Mingul, the Chootash and Meer-
wanees, to join me with their levies and once for all settle with these rebellious
people. Without some action of the sort, there is no prospect of peace or quiet
in the country. The following tribes are true and faithful: Mandras/ Sabras,
and Goongahs.
In conclusion of this week’s diary I would refer to the vernacular letters
attached, as they support an idea that I have entertained for some time past as
to the intention of Persia both in Northern and Western Beloochistan.

ment ^e made, and assist Shahgassee Goolam Jan in putting down disturbances
