It is essential I should receive in format ion upon vihi c
I can rely as to possibility or otherwise of delivering the foil, ow
ing material to Basra by dates indicated, in order to be able
to propose a transportation programme when proper time arrives.
1. Before December 1918 balance of the 150 standard gauge
7, r agon bodies and under frames ores red in India.
2. Before end of February 1919 the 35 Fallet engines still
outstanding.
3. Before end of February 1919 the balance (about 500) metre
gauge wagons and ony due from India.
4. Before end of December 1918 the 60 miles of track which
w.as promised from Bast (Per.) A Persian custom allowing an individual to seek asylum at a designated location. Africa.
5. Before end of December 1918 120 ; C00 metre gauge sleepers.
6. Before the end of May 1919 450 motre gauge 'wagons in
addition to any no?' on order.
7. Before end of May 1919 a further 35 heavy and 5 lignt
engines additional to any now on order. Heavy engines to
specification my number 2478 Sept, 24 - or its equivalent.
If above is impossible could the following smaller requirements
be delivered Basra.
1. Standard gauge wagon bodies and under .frames ordered in
India and Mallet engines as before.
2. Before end of January 1919 60,000 standard gauge sleepers.
3. Before the end of April 1919 balance (abb lit 500) of metro
\
uauge wagons still due from India. Meanwhile th.e demand out-
disregarded ;
lined in my X.2357 Sept. 20th may be disengaged. . The seasonal
state of the rivers controls the (.?)carrying out d»f any policy
