standard would be met by the 180 idles 50 lb. material sanctioned,
and still leave a reserve of 30 miles. You have received full
180 miles, therefore your demand for 14 and 20 miles for additional
sidings at Baghdad & Basra are projects of *;hich * e have not received
information and which do not appear to have been sanctioned.
Paragraph 3. East Africa & India have already provided 28 miles 50
lb. material in addition to 50 miles for extension to Khanixin, which
together with the 30 miles reserve referred to in paragraph 2 above
makes your total reserve 58 miles,
paragraph 4. With reference to 75 lb. material. In your X 8749 fay
12th you stated that you would have a reserve of 37 miles after
completion of Hillah extension & sidings at Basra Baghdad. 18 miles
of this 37 miles have apparently been laid down on the Tekrit
extension vide your X 314 July 16th, leaving
miles still in hand. 25 miles 75 lb. material are now under
despatch at Bombay of which 5 miles have actually been despatched.
You will therefore have 44 miles 75 lb. material in hand after
receipt of balance.
