Copy of a letter, numbered 2, from Sir Gore Ousley [Ouseley], Ambassador to Persia [Iran], to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. . The letter directs the recipients to enclosed correspondence with the Governor General of India (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/101), and adds that he has succeeded in quelling suspicions amongst the Persian authorities of a divergence of interests between the Persian Crown and the East India Company.
The letter was sent on 21 April 1811, and was received on 10 October 1811.
