Q. Q, M. Birdwood, Esq., M»D., and J. P« Hughlings, Esq., B.A.,
were appointed Joint Auditors of the Society’s cash accounts for the
past year.
The Honorary Secretary then proceeded to lay before the Society
the following brief Summary of the proceedings of the past Session
Annual Report.
During the year under review the Society met five times, and
the following were the Papers read at their Meetings respectively ■
Remarks hy Lieut. Colonel Lewis Pelly on his Tour to the
Plateau of Goosakhan and its adjacent hills. Contributed by
Government, and read before the Society at the first Meeting,
held on September 21st, 1865.
Report from Lieut. Colonel F. J. Goldsmid on his Overland
Journey from Bagdad to Constantinople, through Turkish
Arabia and Asia Minor. Contributed by Government, and
read at the second Meeting, held on October 19th, 1865.
Memorandum of Notes on Mekran, together with a Report on a
visit to Kej, and route through Mekran from Gwadur to Kur-
rachee, by Lieut. E. 0. Ross. Contributed by Government,
and read at the fourth Meeting, held on February 1 6th, 1866.
Remarks on the Pearl Oyster Beds in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , by
Lieut. Colonel Lewis Pfelly. Contributed by Government, and
read at the same Meeting.
Report on the Soor Roadstead and on the Creek of Jeraumah
between Soor and Bas-el-Hadd, by Lieut. H. W. Warner,
I. hh Contributed by Government, and read at the lifth
Meeting, held on April 19 th, 1866.
Copy of a Map and of an Itinerary, received from the Political
Resident at Aden, of the country passed over by the Field
^ oice lately on service in the Foodlee Country. Contributed
by Government, and read at the same Meeting.
The Members numbered on the Society’s list at the last annual
meeting were 152. Since then there have been removed—
