The Secretary stated, in reference to the letter of Corporal Leech, that though it was more
than probable that his services would be secured for meteorological purposes in the Punjaub,
he was too valuable a man to be lost sight of. The Society had at the outset applied to
Government (25th March 1345) to provide instruments and agents, and to this Government
