negotiations with Ton Saud reference your telegram No.348
4th July. I have consulted Clayton. He considers it
UBlikely that Ihn Saud will receive any decision which he
(Clayton) is empowered to convey to him in a spirit which
will render possible or advisable further detailed negotiations
on minor questions and that despatch of Iraqi delegation would
"be unnecessary and possibly inopportune. Clayton does not
recollect Ibn Saud expressing hope that such delegation would
he sent and fee he gained impression that Ibn Saud would
probably ask for official recognition of Feisal before having
direct official dealings with Iraq Government ./In this
connection my telegram •£ No.277 of 12th July.
If, however, Government of Iraq nevertheless
desire to send Iraqi delegate H.H.Government have no
desire to raise objection.
