Translation of the Preliminary Treaty between Major-General Sir William Grant Keir, on behalf of Great Britain, and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Dhyab [Shaikh Shakhbut bin Dhiyab Āl Nahyān], the Ruler of Abon Dhyabee [Abu Dhabi], signed at Ras-il-Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah] on 11 January 1820.

The treaty was enclosed in Keir’s letter to HM Chargé d’Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, of January 1820 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/232).
