Copy of a letter from HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary A diplomatic representative who ranks below an ambassador. The term can be shortened to 'envoy'. to Persia [Iran], Sir Harford Jones, in reply to his assistant Thomas Henry Sheridan, dated 20 June 1810. The letter is to privately acknowledge the receipt of Sheridan's letter and to reserve providing a full response until Jones and Sheridan meet in person.
The letter was enclosed in Jones's letter of 24 June 1810 to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company, which was received on 21 November 1810.
