Copy of a letter from HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary A diplomatic representative who ranks below an ambassador. The term can be shortened to 'envoy'. to Persia [Iran], Sir Harford Jones, to the British Government of India's Envoy to Persia, Brigadier-General Sir John Malcolm, dated 15 June 1810, in reply to Malcolm's letter of 10 June 1810. The letter concerns Malcolm's admission to the camp of the court of the Shah of Persia. The letter also accounts for an incident in which Malcolm opened one of Jones's packets to the Resident at Bushire. The letter was enclosed in Jones's letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company of 13 July 1810, which was received on 21 November 1810.
