With reference to Paper No. I.C.O. 1529 9 the following
replies have been received from Departments.
The Admiralty propose that the Bahrein Petroleum Company T s
request he acceded to 5 vis., to install R/T transmitters
of wavelength 10 metres or below 9 radiating 3 watts, or
less. It is not considered that this wavelength will
cause appreciable interference at long ranges 9 and xt is thought
possible that insistence on the use of a shorter wave might
land the Company into difficulties with the sets they propose
to fit in their tankers. It is found that the shorter the
wavelength the more likely is the emitted signal to be
directional ? and communication might thus be difficult if
the ships were swung in a certain direction.

The General Post Office are in agreement with the
Air Ministry.
There is no objection from a War Office point of view
to the installation of radiotelephone transmitters by the
