A manual on dietetics for treating patients by Najīb al-Dīn Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī ibn ‘Umar al-Samarqandī (نجيب الدين أبو حامد محمد بن علي بن عمر السمرقندي, d. 1222).

Begins (f. 126v, lines 3-4):

الحمد لله الذي خلق الداء وأوجد الدواء وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى خصوصًا

على سيدنا وحبيبنا محمد المجتبا ورسوله المرتضى صلى الله عليه وعلى آله ما دامت الأرض والسماء

Ends (f. 140r, lines 10-20):

والدستورات في أطعمة المرضى وللعالم بطبائع الأغذية

فيها مجال ومتسع يؤلف بينها ويستخرج منها ما يوافق كل مرض من

الأمراض الجزئية والأورام والبثور والزينة وكل مزاج من الأمزجة وكل حال

من حالات البدن ووقت من أوقات السنة وسن من الأسنان عند غلبة

كل خلط من الأخلاط وفقنا الله تعالى لما هو أكثر نفعًا وأعم فائدةً

وانتهى بنياتنا إلى أخلص النيات وبأعمالنا إلى أحسن الأعمال إنه هو

المسدد والموفق والحمد لله رب

العالمين وصلى الله على خير

خلقه النبي الأمين

وآله وصحبه

أجمعين
