Sir,
I am directed to refer to the despatch from the
Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs No .3 (K1589V
15894/234), dated the 4th January 1926, to His Majesty's
Minister, Tehran, and to detail for the information of
His Majesty's Government the manner in which the Govern
ment of India propose to give effect to the orders con
tained in paragraph 11 regarding the accounts of the
Ahwaz Consular escort.
2. The position is similar to the case of the Isfahan
and Shiraz Consulates. In these cases, the charges on
account of escorts of the Consulates detailed for duty
in Persia from regiments in India, are accounted to the
office of the Accountant General, Central Revenues,^
through the Tehran Legation Accounts, and budget pro
vision for the escort charges are made in the Indian
Estimates under Persian Legation. The Consuls of these
places draw bills on His Majesty's Minister, Tehran, for
meeting the expenses on account of their escorts and
render accounts quarterly to the Treasury Officer,
