am directed hy Mr. Secretary Ghamherlain to state for the
info .Lina o ion ol the secretary of State for India in Council,
Ciicto uhe lords commissioners of His Majesty’s Treasury
have sanctioned the transfer of nhwaz Consulate to the
1 ayant Deivice as from the date on which Mr, Peel vacates
u.u.c; a o.. v,' f Oi.i uiiG understanding that, pending the conclusion
o~- a i svised arrangement as to the incidence of expenditure
upon the Diplomatic and Consular Service in Persia, the
expenditure at this post will continue to he dealt with
under the existing arrangements.
2. His Majesty’s Minister at Tehran has been informed
accordingly by telegram, and has been authorised to send
Mr. Gybbon Monypenny, a member of the
levant
A geographical area corresponding to the region around the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Consular
Service, to take charge at Ahwaz on Mr.Peel’s departure.
3. 1 am to re guest that this department may be informed
as soon as possible as to the exact date upon which Mr.
Peel will cease to draw salary as His Majesty’s Consul
at Ahwaz, in order that the necessary steps may be taken
to effect the substantive appointment ox Mr. uyocon
Monypenny from the following day.
