Extract from the Secret Communist Journal “ The Siren,” dated October 20th,
1922.

“ Our agents report that Mesopotamia is on eye of a great revolution and
we have good indications that the road has been made ready for the Turks
We have sent first class Communists there for propaganda work and their work
has been most satisfactory. Only one more effort is required and Mesopotamia
will become a great Eed Revolutionary Country. This effort will be the step
towards our complete world victory. We have been successful in many
countries including Ireland and Italy, now we must turn seriously towards
India and Mesopotamia. There must be a world-wide revolution! Wliere
disturbances have taken place within the sphere of the British Government
the British have endeavoured to quell these disturbances by sending troops
and aircraft, particularly the latter, but with little effect.”

The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
