Keasnovodsk, ISth June. —600 Infantry, 150 Cavalry ; Russians und Muhammadans
making 3 platoons of the 9th Kazan Regiment. 6 guns, 3 machine guns, 1 armomed car,
1 plane.
Sakakhs, 29th June. —400 Russians, 230 Turkomans with 4 guns and 3 machine guns.
Kushk, 18th June. — 2,500 Infantry, 1,000 Cavalry; mostly Russians. 9 guns, 8 machine
guns, 1 armoured car, 1 plane. At Maruchak, 300 with 1 gun and 1 machine gun. At lash
Kepri, 250 with 2 guns and 2 machine guns.
Meev 201 h June. —3,800 Infantry, 1,200 Cavalry. These troops recently arrived from
Russia, and being used to a cooler climate are feeling the heat, which causes much sickness.
Regiments are 1st Semirechia, 10th Kazan and 3rd Samara (Commander, Zakheff). Each
regiment has 400 Cavalry attached to it, the horses of which are used to move the guns. 9 guns,

Bokhara, 15th June.-%500 Infantry, 1,000 Cavafry ; mostly Muhammadans. 9 guns,

The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
