68. Saiad Ismail, Arab, a nephew of Sheikh Ahmad Senussi, with 60
followers, men, women, and children, arrived on the 21st. They were accommo
dated in Government quarters and a guard posted over the same.
69. The Arab called on the Naib-ul-Hukumeh on the next day and told
him. he had fought against the British who had employed aeroplanes. Those
of his tribesmen who survived were taken prisoner. He himself was to be
drowned in the river by the British but the Shah of Persia saved him and !
brought him to Persia and he had arrived in Herat in order to go to the Amir
of Afghanistan. ^
70. As previously reported, Abdul Eazaq Khan, Secretary to the Afghan
representative at Home, left for Italy via Bussia. He returned to Herat on
the 22nd. The reason is unknown.
71. The composition of the new Bokharan Government has been adver
tised. The majority of the members of the Government are described as
having been educated in Constantinople and as patriots.
72. Pifty ponies with corn and 50 camels with hay and bhusa were sent
from the Government godowns in Herat to Chahildukbteran.
73. Paqir Muhammad Khan returned from Chahildukhteran on the 20th
and brought 12 Jamshedi elders with him, representatives of 30 families who
had emigrated from Russia to Afghanistan. The elders were given khila’ats
and told to go and live in peace.
74. Two varieties of forms for passports have been sent from Kabul. One
is for Afghans travelling abroad and the other is a proof of Afghan citizenship.
They are in English, Russian, and Persian.
75. The text of the Anglo-Afghan treaty has been published in the town
by poster (December 21st). People have read it with great interest.
76. On the 21st two Russian messengers arrived from Kabul ma Kandahar
en route for Russia. They left oh the 22nd. The cook of the Bolshevik
Minister and his wife accompanied the messengers.

The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
