These indiTiduals now under obserration consist of one man
" 'rom Daghestan and three from Tashkent. They are reported to have hem
engaged as propagandists in Afghanistan and to be in possession of a
book whose purport is to equate the principles of Bolshevism to those
> Islam. These man have been heard to say that there are three prin
cipal propaganda schools — namely at Moscow, Baku, and Tashkent, Grad
-uates from these schools are sent far and wide. The Tashkent school
admits Moslems in the majority. In the class in which these individ-
uius were students were four Indians, two of whom being appointed to
Calcutta a*Mi two to Bombay. The names of two of these Indians are
given as £huda Bakhsh and Barkatull&b. The student roll of the school
included several Afghans who were to he deputed to Afghanistan and
India.
The party is passing itself off as having fled from Turkestan.
They are reported, moreover, to he members of a Kavk&zi secret society
of which details are awaited.

A remark was passed in a local gathering relative to the
return to Meshed of the branch of the Imperial B&hk of Persia. One
who belongs to the party of democrats confirmed the news observing
that whatever silver there is in Tarsia the British will collect,
leaving Persia destitute. He received a rejoinder from another pres
ent to the effect that though the English are clever business men thej
do not violate religions and the honour of women, neither do they
murder mullas and others like the Bolsheviks do.
Only one case of seizure of arms is reported in the week
under review and that of a trifling nature. A consignment of rifles
is reported to have arrived in Meshed from babardast Khan. Further
details are awaited.
Pilgrims from Kain say that the jmir-of lain has collected
horsemen and is inclined to resist any a ttempt to interfere with him*
