In the North of England the strike movement has assumed a revolu
tionary character. A bitter struggle ‘
and the strikers.
i'he losses sustained by the mine owners by reason of the strike
are calculated by the English Government to be 17 milliards of marks.
The ,resident of the English miners (sic) announced that dis
cussions with the Government could only be coonducted on the scene of
the struggle. The Committee will not recognise any attempt at arbit
ration. The London papers announce the advance of 6,000 miners on the
Central station of the Northern Railway in Fifeshire fcr the purpose
of seizing goods trains and for other hostilities.
The Manchester labouring classes, engineers and drivers, have
issued a manifesto calling for compliance with a universal strike.
Serious collisions are occurring in Fifeshire where the miners on
strike have cut communication between Dundee and Minboro*. The police
and sailors have restored order after a severe struggle. Infantry
and sailors have occupied important strategic points round umdon.
THE PROVISIONING OF RUSSIA. COMMISSARIAT AKRMGEMENTS
WITH ABROAD.
One hundred barrels of Scotch herrings have been purchased in Eng
land. The first ship, bringing 16,000 barrels, sailed on the 1st
April. The whole consignment will have arrived by the 15th of May.
Qa the 5th April 30,000 poods of meat products were purchased.
During March, 635,000 poods of merchandise were ported from
abroad. From the commencement of the year, 3 ,OQO,Ol'Q poods have
been imported. In addition, 203 wagon loads hare arriTed from the

The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
