Imperial Hussian Consulate General # six in number, have been
required to surrender tbeir arms in accordance wit> the
provisions of martial law now obtaining. The demand has
been complied with.
Haji Muawin-us-Sanayeh, formerly a contractor for the building
of the British betted encampment, has bean summonsed to
appear before a Military Court on charges of non-disbursement
of pay dut to work people employed by him.
Complaint against the excesses of gendarme street patrols is
reported to be general.
A Gendarms school has been instituted at which officers also
are required to attend. A surplus of school wall atlases
in Homan and Persian characters was offered by this office
to the Mil it ry Governor General through H. B. M. Consul
General for the use of students add was gratefully accepted.
Bet .chments of gendarmes are reported to be in preparation
for various sub-provincial centres. The Teheran-Meshed road

The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
