A story narrated by a correspondent shews, if true, that at

in Askhabad. An /irmenian named Colachov a clerk of one of the
Komissars, learnt of and reported his identity. The officer was
sent for and hanged* His two sene were put to death.
His daughter was put among Bed soldiers for a night and assassina-
| ted next morning as, too, was his mother—in—law — in other words
the Bolsheviks applied one of their favourite formulae to the entire
family and ?l destroyed Jf it.
A very reliable correspondent gives the following information : -
A number of individuals has arrived in Askhabad from Baku where
they have bean through a course at the propaganda school.
‘;|Tbis course was arranged to fit them for service in lersia. Their
modus operand! will be to engage in trade and they will devote
their attention to soldiers, merchants, and school children where
possible. Their ages v.^ry from 20-2S years and the informer is of
opinion that all young men arriving in Tarsia on trading ventures
should be viewed with suspicion.
The chief of propagindum work in Askhabad is a Tartar, by name
Kalakov who is well sujjplied with funds by the Communists. All
■ missionaries despatched to Tersia rre given an initial start in
trade in the form of a donation of goods and cash. These propa
gandists have their won cipher which the correspondent will en
deavour to procure.
The large garrison stated to be in the town is living in
shops that have been vacated to make room for than. Dood is scarce
and the condition of the troops is said to be very bad. A corres
pondent prophesies hunger riots and seizure of the stocks held by
the food komissars.
