races, the disseminators of civilazation and the preservers of right ” in the fol
lowing words “ Do yon think that the downtrodden people of the East will now
respond to your cunning and alluring promises ! No, they have already sur
vived an epoch of such and are advancing along the road that leads to a struggle
for freedom. Every one of the sons of the East knows well that hundreds "of
§ millions of their oppressed brethren in India, Egypt, Persia, Turkey and Arabia
are fighting for their freedom. Our brethren, thanks to you civilized blood
suckers, were forced to leave their homes and wander in the jungles and woods.
Inhuman and illegal are your ordinances. What gigantic losses have our
oppressed brothers endured in your wars in Egypt, India, and Arabia. Such a
mode of action has bound the whole East in one common resolve. She fully
understands the significanc<? of her economic and political freedom and in no
circumstance will consent to enslavement. As much as you constrict us and
trample our rights under foot, so much will you fashion conditions for preparing
the ground for the overthrow of our oppressors. We have been forced every
day to draw the ranks of the fighters for freedom closer and closer and our
struggle becomes more cruel and sanguinary. We have advanced along the road
that leads to the fight with Imperialists experiencing all the bitterness of our
enslaved condition and its consequent misery for all.
Down with the fetters forged by the Imperialists of the West for the enslav
ed and oppressed, that they may not serve as an impediment to our own union,

championship of right will echo throughout the world. We are persuaded that
in the near future our ranks will be filled with new fighters for the freedom of the
oppressed people of the earth.
All hail the Universal Union of Oppressed People of the East with the pro
letariat of the West.
All hail the World Revolution !

About this item
- Content
The item consists of Part 1 of the subject file 1341/1921: 'Meshed Consular & Intelligence Diaries (1921-1922)'.
It contains numbered periodical (mainly weekly) reports relating to Persia [Iran], initially each called an 'Intelligence Summary' and later called a 'Meshed Intelligence Diary'. The reports cover the period of the week ending 1 January 1921 to the period ending 1 January 1923. They are initially issued by the British Military Mission, Meshed [Mashhad, also known as Mashad or Meshad], and later by the Military Attaché, Meshed. The intelligence summaries, and diaries, relate to political, foreign, military and diplomatic affairs in the locality and the neighbouring regions and are variously arranged under (chiefly) the following headings: 'Khorasan and North-East Persia'; 'Herat and Afghanistan'; 'Russian Turkistan'; 'Khorasan'; 'Cis-Frontier'; 'Trans-Frontier'; 'Afghanistan'; 'Bolshevik Garrisons'; 'Local'; 'Transcaspia'; 'Bokhara'; 'Tashkent'; 'Central Russia'; 'Khiva'; 'Ferghana'; 'General'; and 'Samarkand'. The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
