France is energetically trying to get Jugo-Slovakia to advance against
Soviet Russia. All society of Jugo-Slovakia is protecting against the predatory
policy of France.
Petliura once more.
There is an unuerstanding between Pilsudski and Petliura with regard to
a co-ordinated movement against Soviet Russia. The Warsaw paper “ Courier ”
furnishes the information about this understanding.

Soviet Khiva and Bokhara.
# The influence of the revolution has done its work and the insurrectionary
natives of Khiva and Bokhara have hurled down their tryannical despotisms.
It seemed that external causes hindering Soviet administration had been
disposed of but as a matter of fact the struggle with the fugitive Amir has
begun again in the south of Bokhara.
In Ferghana there are the Basmakhs, in * Bokhara the Amir’s banditti.
Thanks to the active help of the English the struggle has been prolonged and
threatens to expand in the spring into formidable dimensions.
Snould this occur all the Soviet edifice in Turkistan will once again begin
to fall away.
But the latest information categorically proves that this will mot happen.
The Amir of Bokhara is knocked on the head and our principal task is either
to capture or to drive the thief beyond the southern confines of Bokhara.
The liquidation of the Amir’s banditti affords an opportunity to the Young
Bokharan Republic in its turn more seriously to occupy itself with peaceful
reconstruction!, and a fortiori, to expand the revolution into the country districts
where the influence of begs and mullas is still strong. It is necessary in the
interests of peaceful reconstruction in Turkistan similarly to liquidate the
Basmach movement in Ferghana in the early spring.
The granary of Turkistan must be set free at all costs—it must afford
hundreds of thousands of poods of wheat to the workers of Turkistan. The
liquidation of the robber bands of Ferghana and Bokhara constitutes that
arduous yet healthy task whereby the economical life of Turkistan will burst
into flower in a very short time.

The summaries often include appendices which are usually extracts of local and national newspapers published in the regions and countries of interest, including Nabat , Rosta , Izvestia , Ittifaq-i-Islam , Bednota, Prolitarii , Sharq-i-Iran, and Pravda . Other appendices contain details of Bolshevik Garrisons in the region.
