A copy of a letter from Henry Willock, HM Chargé d'Affaires in Persia [Iran], to the Marquess of Hastings, Governor-General of Bengal, sent from Tabriz and dated 25 August 1821.
The letter concerns arrears in subsidy payments to Persia and forwards Willock’s correspondence with Persian officials on the subject (IOR/L/PS/9/69/73-74).
The letter was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 29 August 1821 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/71).
