Letter from the former HM Chargé d’Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, in London, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company, of 6 January 1827, which was received on 12 January 1827. The letter originally enclosed dispatches from HM Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, George Canning, originally sent to Willock subsequent to his departure from Persia, and forwarded to him by the Marquess of Clanricarde (now catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/70/169-174). In the letter, Willock highlights the approbation he has received from His Majesty’s Government in these dispatches for his services in Persia.
