Content

A commentary on the preceding text, al-Bāḥah fī ʿilmay al-ḥisāb wa-al-misāḥah (الباحة في علمي الحساب والمساحة), in which the text of the latter is also fully transcribed (علم الحساب: ff. 28r-87r; علم المساحة: ff. 87r-109r).

The text was completed on 25 Rabīʿ II 836/19 December 1432 and the transcription of the present copy was completed a month later on the night of 24 Jumādá I of the same year/16 January 1433 (see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 109r, lines 14-19, transcribed below).

The calculation of areas of different shapes are illustrated with red diagrams (f. 90v-103r).

Begins (f. 28v, line 2-5):

الحمد لله الذي أحصى كل شيء عددا وقسم أرزاق خلقه متفاوتة ولا ينفد

ما عنده أبدا أحمده حمدا كثيرا لا يغادر من القلوب كثيرا إلا أوجب له المقابلة

بالجبر ولا يزاول من الذنوب كبيرا ولا صغيرا إلا أصاره كما ينسب للعشرة من

الجذر...

Ends (f. 109r, lines 9-13):

...وقد أعان الله ذو القصد علي ذا النظم حتى بعد حمد كملًا

ختمته في عام ست قفت بعد ثلثين ثمان مائة قلنا

والحمد لله على التمام وأفضل الصلاة والسلام

على النبي وآله والصحب ما دُوِّنَت أسماؤهم في الكتب

ويغفر الله لمن أنشأها ومن قرأ فيها ومن راءها

Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. (f. 109r, lines 14-19):

فرغت من هذا الشرح يوم الجمعة خامس عشرين شهر ربيع الآخر من شهور سنة

ست وثلثين وثماني مائة ومن هذه النسخة ليلة السبت رابع عشرين جمادى

الأولى من السنة وكتب بيده الفانيه جامعه أضعف الخلق وأحوجهم

إلى عفو الحق إبرهيم بن عمر بن حسن الرباط بن علي بن أبي بكر البقاعي الشافعي

لطف الله به وبوالديه وبجميع المسلمين ونفع بما قصد إليه إنه قريب مجيب
