I thought it might be as well after' /morning's
meeting to put down in the form of notes, the procedure
which you suggested regarding next week's meeting upon
the Southern frontier of Turkey in Asia and the preliminary
discussion which is to take place with the French before
that meeting.
1. In the published correspondence which took place
between His Majesty's Government and the French Government
in the Autumn of 1921 relating to the Angora Agreement of
October 20, 1921, the following two passages relating to
the Syrian frontier and its relation to the final Treaty
of Peace are important
fa) In the final paragraph of his note of
November 17, 1921, the French Charge d'Affaires on the
instructions of his Government stated that: "the French
Government however is not unwilling to admit that when a
treaty is concluded, the different agreements which have
been negotiated hitherto (Treaty of Sevres, Tripartite
Agreement, arrangements for the liberation of prisoners,
and the Angora Agreement), shall be adjusted in such
a way as to take their place in the general settlement".
