This item comprises copies of enclosures to a despatch from the Governor-General of India, Allahabad, Secret Department, to the East India Company Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. , Number 36 of 1842, dated 17 August 1842. The enclosures are numbered 3-8 and are dated 28 July-16 August 1842.
The enclosures relate to political and military affairs in Bundlekhund [Bundelkhand, also spelled Bundelkund and Bundelcund in this item]. Subjects include succession disputes in the Bundela Rajput State of Oorcha [Orchha].
