“ The Police has in my opinion been made much more
efficient by the late grant of increase of pay, and a better
class of men is now obtainable for service in the force, which is
a matter of great satisfaction. The numbers, however, still are
small for the thorough supervision of so scattered a place as
Aden, and with its gradual development, I respectfully submit,
will have to be augmented before long.
“ The addition of three European Constables for service
here has likewise rendered the transaction of public business
in the case of European offenders, sailors and others, far more
pleasant to the executive officers under you than was formerly
the case, and has and will no doubt continue to prevent unne
cessary complications.
“ The three Constables selected from the troops serving
here have already given ample proof of their ability and
judgment for the particular description of duty for which
they have been chosen, and I have no hesitation in stating
that I am confident that the sanction accorded by Government
for the establishment of these Constables will never have to be
regretted.
• The conduct of the Police during the past year has
been exemplary, and the arrangements carried out by Subedar
Bhickoo Suckoo, during the trying times at the commence
ment of the year, reflect great credit on himself and the force
generally.”
