angles of the corridors there are two bathrooms (12'x 12'),
and in the rear angles two necessaries of similar size,
including passages partitioned off. There is also a
carriage porch covering 32' x 20', with three open
archways on clustered columns similar to the arches of
the corridors, and a carriage archway of similar construc
tion affording a clear way of 10 feet in width between the
plinths of the bases. The architecture of the building is early
English of the 2nd period, and its construction is of irregular
coursed Breccia rubble with calcareous sandstone dressing.
The roof over rooms are open timber frame worked of a pitch
of 45° to 60°, covered in with f" tongued and grooved plank
ing, and corrugated iron ornamented with cast iron gal
vanized crestings, with wrought iron bannerets and finials
painted maroon, with points oil-gilded. The flat roof over
corridors and porch consist of thin slabs of Porebunder stone,
with concrete and Portland cement over teak joists. The
floors are Minton’s plain tiles throughout. The work is just
completed. There is also a detached building in plan 3 sides
of a rectangle, containing 9 rooms (each 10'xlO'), with a
veranda all round 5' wide.
