171. As the particulars and results of my recent tour to the principal Jails in India
have been for some months before Government in my report No. 515, already referre to,
1 will not in this place further allude to the subject than respectfully to crave the early
consideration of His Excellency the Governor in Council to the different points therein
submitted.
.172. In conclusion 1 have the pleasure to record my obligations to the Session
Judges, Assistant Session Judges, and Civil Surgeons for their cooperation and assist
ance in carrying out reductions and reforms during the past year, and for the readiness
with which they supplied, at, l am aware, considerable inconvenience, the intricate figured
information which was called for, and which was indispensable to the preparation of the
tabular statements which embody the detailed statistical data now placed before Go
vernment.
