millet, beet, rape, castor, and saffion (in Kain) are cultivated, but
the whole produce is consumed in the province except 180,OuO
tumans (51,429/.) worth of opium^jmd 140^00 lumans (42,857/.)
worth of cotl iWr—Abmir^T^O"mmaits (1,057/.) worth of wheat
is also exported from Kuchan to Trans-Caspia. Potatoes are
grown in the vicinity of Mcshea, and a portion of the produce
goes to Ashkabad. Fruits of all! sorts abound, including grapes,
melons, peaches, plums, apricots, mulberries, pears, apples, and a
